GRUNGIES/FUZZIES

Updated: Oct 5, 2023

Grungies/Fuzzies - Transformational Distinctions

In the transformational training [re]WIRED for Peace, we call the experiences that arise when we approach something with a 'Have-To' attitude as "Grungies." Conversely, when we approach something with a 'Get-To' attitude, we refer to the resulting experiences as "Fuzzies."

The concept of Grungies refers to the negative emotions, stress, and resistance that emerge when we perceive an obligation or a feeling of being forced to do something. These experiences are often characterized by a sense of burden or necessity, which can hinder our ability to fully engage and find enjoyment in the task at hand and in life in general.

On the other hand, Fuzzies represent the positive emotions, enthusiasm, and motivation that arise when we approach something with a sense of opportunity, desire, and privilege. When we adopt a 'Get-To' attitude, we recognize the inherent value and potential benefits in the activity, allowing us to embrace it with a greater sense of joy and fulfillment.

By recognizing when we operate from a 'Have-To' attitude and experience Grungies, we can shift towards a more positive and empowering outlook by choosing a 'Get-To' attitude, which produces Fuzzies. This shift in perspective enables us to approach tasks and challenges with a greater sense of purpose, excitement, and emotional fortitude.
